Ceramic ball bearings
Ceramic rolling bearings are now state of the art in many areas.
They are available in almost all designs known from the steel sector:
- Deep groove (radial) ball bearings
- Thin section bearings
- Angular contact ball bearings
- Thrust ball bearings
- Self-aligning ball bearings

Ceramic rolling bearings are available in many different material combinations in order to best meet the respective requirements in the application.
The most common materials - also in combination - are:
- Silicon nitride (Si3N4)
- Zirconium oxide (ZrO2)
- Silicon carbide (SiC) - for special cases
The ball cages are usually made of plastics (PEEK, PTFE or nylon), but can also be made of technical ceramics if necessary!

Advantages of technical ceramics
The technical ceramic materials used in fully ceramic or hybrid rolling bearings have many advantages:
- longer service life
- higher rigidity
- reduced micro-vibrations
- higher rigidity
- good emergency running properties (lack of lubrication, dry running)
- electrical insulation
- high chemical corrosion resistance
- non-magnetic
- ultra-high vacuum capable (UHV)
- temperature-resistant to both high and low temperatures
